We Counted More Than 500,000 Openings: Here’s Who’s Hiring for the Holidays
As the holidays near, the same companies that you’re browsing through to find gifts and supplies are hiring — in the thousands. And maybe even tens or hundreds of thousands.
Just a short time before Halloween, the number of permanent and seasonal positions needing to be filled in advance of the holidays for the companies we researched is around 517,000.
Seasonal jobs can help you recoup costs related to gift giving or traveling, and they may even blossom into a full-time career. But the fact that many of them are, or can become, permanent extends stability into the new year.
If you’re looking for seasonal work, this all translates to good news. To entice workers, many employers are offering $15 starting wages or higher, sign on bonuses, employee discounts and other interesting benefits.
Here’s a look at who’s hiring for the holidays and how to apply.
Amazon: 250,000 Full-Time, Part-Time and Seasonal Jobs
With nearly 1.5 million employees, the second largest corporate workforce in the world, you know Amazon will be hiring many seasonal workers — and they definitely are in 2023.
The company is making waves by hiring 250,000 full-time, part-time and seasonal roles through the end of the year while investing $1.3 billion in pay increases for customer fulfillment and transportation employees. The company says the average pay for those roles is now $20.50 per hour – up 50% over the last five years – with some locations offering $28 per hour.

The best part? Nearly 80% of these positions don’t even require an interview. You can fill out an online application, which takes 20 minutes or less, according to the company. Nearly 50,000 seasonal employees have earned permanent positions over the past two years, the company also says. Seasonal driver positions start at $23 per hour – and thanks to a renegotiated contract, longer-tenured full-time drivers can make up to $170,000.
